Winter Instruments Service and Repair
Winter instruments are tough but have to put up with all sorts of abuse in what is often a hostile environment. Vibration and impact from towing out or running a turbo is not very kind to these instruments and they can drop out of calibration. Storing them in a damp cold trailer over the winter is not great either! As a result, Winter recommend that your analogue instruments should be serviced every 5 years.
Here at Navboys, we run a collection and delivery service to Winter in Germany to keep the shipping costs down. Typically we have one shipment a week in the winter and once a month in the summer. The return cost of shipping is £ 20 per item and this will be insured both ways. The cost of a service or repair is dependent upon the work and parts required but we will obtain a quote for every instrument before the work is started. There is an assessment fee of £ 35 per instrument which is only chargeable if you do not proceed with the work required.
How long does it take? Most of the repairs we have sent are back within 3 to 4 weeks but at busy times (Spring time) there can be a delay of up to 6 weeks. Our advice is to get your instruments to us before Christmas and we will have them back to you in good time for the start of the season.
How much does it cost? Well service and repair costs vary depending on what type of instrument and what needs replacing so budget £ 60 to £ 150 for the service, re calibration and light repair. The cost of the replacement form 1 is £ 5 (the instrument must be seen by Winter to issue a Form 1.)
Lost your Form 1? No problem, as long as the instrument can be calibrated and or repaired, it will arrive back with a replacement form 1.
Emergency service. If you are in a tearing hurry for a repair or service, we can in some instances offer an exchange to get you up and running quickly while your instrument is away for repair. Give us a call or drop us a line and we will do our best to organise for you.
